Pastor Kelby Werner
A little bit about me:
I am blessed to be serving my second year with the Glenwood United Parish community as their pastor. Before coming to United Parish, I worked in United Methodist contexts as an intern for nine years, I have a bachelors of arts in Psychology from the University of Minnesota, and I graduated from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary with a Master's of Divinity.

My Pastoral Focus:
When it comes to church, I believe in the pillars of accessibility and inclusivity. When it comes to inclusivity, I believe Christ calls us to come to church as we are, reflecting the diverse and wonderful image of God that we were all created to be. So regardless of one's race, sex, gender identity/expression, legal/immigration status, level of education, and marital status I believe that you are loved and accepted by God and called into community to do God's work in the world.

In regards to accessibility, this is the work of making sure that when we say all are welcome, all are truly welcomed. This means making sure the church building, church programming, and worship services are both physically and mentally accessible to all. The church should be a safe place for someone to grow in their faith by asking hard questions, learning about and trying new spiritual practices, engaging in biblical study, and being a part of an uplifting, active, and supportive community.

Random Tidbits:
I love exploring new ways for church to be church, I enjoy working with people and technology, board games are a passion of mine, and I have an adorable kitten named Kiko.

You Are Welcome Here:
Now that you have gotten to know a bit about me, I would love to get to know you! Please know that you are always welcome to join us at GUP online and in-person for any and all of our programming. If you have any questions about our congregation or church do not hesitate to reach out.
