Psalm 143:8 (NIV)
“Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.”
What a wonderful song to sing every morning. I don't typically think of asking God to remind me of God's unfailing love. I also don't think of my trust in God as a reminder of God's unfailing love. But when I read this verse this morning, it clicked! We have so many reminders around us of how awful life can be, of how cruel people can be to each other and animals. This verse reminds us that having just as many reminders of God's steadfast and unfailing love is possible. When we look for the reminders, the "word" of remembrance of the outcomes of our trust, we can ask God to show us how to walk each day. When we are made aware of the one we trust, we can confidently ask for a clear path. I don't know about you, but the path I want to take sometimes seems out of reach or covered in fog. It is a good practice to remind ourselves to ask daily, trusting that God's unfailing love will take us along the paths we are called to walk.
